Hi my name is Megan and I'm a thrift store-a-holic...

So, it's official...I am obsessed. I was at D.I. yesterday and saw some more chairs. I just have this thing with chairs. But knowing my husband wouldn't like me to have this thing with chairs I knew I couldn't buy them. But I wanted them...they were great. So, I thought, "Hey, I'll just buy them and sell them for a profit which will make my husband happy because it adds to our bank account instead of subtracts." So, I bought them. And today I took pictures and listed them. But now, I want them. And I remembered I have trade money on this great bartering site I use and perhaps they'd have upholstery services. I won't know until morning if they do but in the mean time...let's dream and decide what to redo them into.

Love all of these examples - such a hip updating of a timeless style. I especially like the light and dark pink - I don't want to do pink but I like the idea of doing it all one color in lighter and darker values:

I don't know what will become of the chairs but I love dreaming about it. What are your favorite color choices? Any ideas not seen here?

Asher's first solids....and remembering Peter's first...

Today was Asher's first try at eating solids and since he has been reaching for everything we eat it was pretty fun.


And here is Peter eating his first meal one year ago. They look so different, don't they? Asher looks like Dad(especially his ears) and Peter like Mom(especially his mouth).


And here they are together...


Already they love each other's company. When I got home from my trip this week Peter didn't really care about seeing me but he was really excited to see Asher. Love it.

The other D.I. find

So this one might make me a weirdo but I have ALWAYS wanted one of these...and when it's only ten bucks you get it. Even if you won't be able to use it until your next house...

In our lovely Deseret...Industries, that is...

So lately when nothing is working at home I often find myself piling the kids in the car for a trip to D.I. . Nothing gets my juices flowing more than wandering through a thrift store - especially the American Fork Deseret Industries! It's really not picked over at all. I often go looking for chairs - I love chairs and I use them in my photography - and you've seen a couple I've gotten in the past. Today was a totally successful day there too. Here's the lowdown:

I got some books to use as decorater items - I didn't even care what their titles where or what they were about - I look for color only. Completely judging a book by it's cover:
And I also got a great bench/chest to go in the laundry room as a place to hold all of those snow clothes this winter - and somewhere to sit when you are yanking them off. I'll paint this eventually but not for a while...

AND for years I've been wanting one of these and even though I won't install it here since we are renting...I couldn't resist it or it's $10 price tag. Pic coming - I haven't picked it up yet...

But my most favorite find of the day was this genuine crystal chandelier. I have been wanting one for soooo long and today when I saw it I was so excited. I am going to paint it - not sure what color just - though white is likely. It looks smaller that it is in this photo - it's perfect sized:
